Based on Alexander Dumas' classic novel, Jim Caviezel stars as 'Edmond Dantes' -- a dashing young sailor with plans to marry the beautiful 'Mercedes'. But Edmond's life is shattered when he's deceived by his best friend, 'Fernand Mondego' -- played by Guy Pierce, and finds himself imprisoned, while Mondego pursues, and weds Mercedes. Dantes eventually escapes the island prison with the help of another inmate played by Richard Harris, who also reveals the location of a secret fortune. Now wealthier then any can imagine, Dantes transforms himself into the mysterious "Count of Monte Cristo" as he systematically destroys and men who enslaved him in this action packed drama.
